Testimonial:
The many tangible and intangible benefits gained through my
experience with the ERES program enabled me with opportunities to further
develop and grow.My summer spent as an
ERES participant provided me with the chance to better understand the
scientific skills, theories, and practices that I learned in the classroom
during the academic year.Learning in
the classroom is very different from learning and putting skills to use in the
field.Working directly with my Research
Supervisor and Mentor
allowed me to develop a personal mentoring relationship which gave me the
chance to pose questions and ideas that time in the classroom does not
always.Developing and understanding the
details of the science field through hands-on experience is not an opportunity a
student comes across everyday.Gathering
data, handling live samples, working the microscope, and analyzing the data
helped me understand the importance of details and future presentation of
results.In the end, my research
experience and relationship with my mentor pushed me to pursue my graduate
degree in Health Care Policy and Management at CarnegieMellonUniversity.I wanted to stay in the science field with a
grounded appreciation and knowledge of the experimentation and work that takes
place; and through this experience and learning, I gained a passion for the
policy development and implementation side of health and sciences as my career.
