Commencement 2010 - Announcement of Senior Class Gift

by John Zanner '10 and William Doss '10

Looking back over our last four years at Denison, there has been only one constant. Everything was always changing. Through our years here we have changed roommates, changed classes and professors and occasionally changed our underwear. Change has been a great thing for us here as it has allowed us to grow and evolve into the men and women we are today.

One thing that has never changed is our sense of “community”. Whether it is students supporting each other on the athletic fields, in their creative pursuits or just inside the classroom, we have always been there for each other in some way or another.

This idea of community was incredibly valuable during this past year. At events, our class rallied to donate towards general scholarships through the Annual Fund. Our donations will support the College's resources so the College can continue to bring together a community of students like us. It is our great pleasure today to announce that our class truly did unite this year. We are extremely proud of our fundraising results and thank our classmates for their involvement and donations.

We have raised over $7,600 and we have achieved a donor participation rate of 56%. This participation rate is the 2nd highest in the history of the senior gift program.

Please help us take a moment to acknowledge the class of 2010 for this accomplishment!

We would like to take this moment to thank those who helped us this year. Thank you to everyone involved with the Senior Class Gift Committee. Without you, none of this would have been possible. We also would like to extend our appreciation to the Denison University Alumni Council. Council members provided matching dollars as a challenge to our class to participate. Lastly, we would like to express our thanks to Lori Pongtana, our Senior Class Gift Advisor and Assistant Director of the Annual Fund.

Our class, through these donations, shows our dedication to Denison.  We are extremely thankful for all the gifts the College has given us, especially the chance to build a community throughout our years here. We hope to pay it forward on our own as we become alumni. Grads, good luck in your future pursuits and enjoy this day of celebration to the fullest.
