Denison’s Studio Art program welcomes artist Don Colley who will present his sketchbook drawings of Denison and Granville.

In the long-ago days before the advent of photography, cadres of skilled artists were sent to locations to sketch events and landscapes for newspapers and magazines. Colley has revived that tradition with a modern twist, he takes road trips and records the sights in his sketchbooks. Colley will visit Denison University and work with students and faculty on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 15, 16 and 17. On Wednesday, Sept. 17, Colley will present his sketchbooks of Denison and Granville at 4 p.m. in the Presidents’ Room of Doane Library (400 West Loop).

Chicago-based artist Colley has exhibited widely in the United States for 28 years, and is currently represented by Carl Hammer Gallery in Chicago, George Adams Gallery in New York, Fleisher Ollman Gallery in Philadelphia and Philip Slein Gallery in St. Louis. Additionally, Colley regularly teaches Faber-Castell’s Creative Academy Program and Faber-Castell workshops at accredited art schools across the country.
