He also is a leader in the classroom where his insight and positive thoughtful comments help other students connect with challenging discussions and readings. He has been a truly positive force at Denison and in the surrounding community with his efforts to promote diversity. He was instrumental in coordinating a Black history program "Taking it the Streets." He and other members of the BSU organized a program highlighting prominent figures in African -American history and presented it to area elementary school children. As the President of the Black Student Union, Eric has led the organization with honor and integrity. He has earned the respect of his fellow students, in part because of his inclusive work ethic. He has championed issues of diversity and inclusion on our campus and the surrounding communities. His considerate thoughtful actions and discussions have changed the climate on our campus and his mentoring in the community will have a positive and lasting effect on the lives of many young people in the Newark community."
