Supporting comments: "Jess has been an exemplary leader in the dance department in many ways. Other students began to notice her and everyone enjoyed the terrifically positive attitude she brought to this environment. Quickly, she was identified not only by faculty but also by students as a person to follow. Named a department fellow in her junior year (an honor bestowed on one junior and three seniors) we were able to confirm that her own peers looked to her for leadership. It was noteworthy that Jess was off-campus her junior year, and still her peers felt she was their overwhelming choice. Jess has demonstrated an outstanding balance and combination of academic standing, performance ability, and leadership qualities. Beyond the department and the division, Jess has served Denison Outdoor Orientation with verve and gusto. Jessamyn is quiet, unassuming, and unobtrusive in her work, but she has made a dramatic impact on the experiences of a number of Denison students. In her work with DOO, Jessamyn was visible as a jet-stream behind a powerful force of energy. Does being an organizational dynamo leave a lasting impression on Denison students? In this case, absolutely. At the same time, it is easy to point to her kindness, her concern, her respectfulness for everyone around her, her essential gentleness. I wonder how so soft and soft-spoken a person can change the flow of air in a room, but Jess has that effect. When she walks in, you know that everything is going to be fine."
