Supporting comments: "In her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, she is not only an extremely positive role model, but served two consecutive one-year terms as Vice President of Intellectual Development. Alpha Chi's reputation as a strong academic entity grew even stronger under Laura's leadership. As an officer in the Denison University Biological Society early in her Denison career, Laura began a successful lunch series to bring faculty and students together. She also organized t-shirt sales and the first Denison Darwin Day, still a tradition on campus. Her sustained enthusiastic leadership as chairperson of Operation Smile is contagious and has inspired many students and faculty to get involved with this worthy endeavor. From the relationship Laura has forged with Children's Hospital in Columbus, many children with craniofacial abnormalities will benefit. Furthermore, the children involved in the elementary school education program Laura has instituted will continue to spread the word about Operation Smile and keep her passion alive."
