Supporting comments: "Rarely will one meet a student as committed to social justice and public service as Sam Benham. He began his time at Denison by participating in the Denison Service Orientation (DSO) and was so profoundly moved by his experience, he led the DSO trip the next three years. Under his leadership, DSO thrived and grew in terms of content and reflection. In DCA, he chaired the Legal Assistance committee for three years and provided leadership to twenty-eight other service committees. Sam is a kind human being committed to the idea of justice for those who are traditionally not being served. He is a quiet leader who always puts others first and who is the first to volunteer for any worthy cause. With great personal integrity, his actions consistently match his words."
