Supporting comments: "In the spring of 2007, Lauren went to Namibia for a study visit on development and culture. This was a transformative visit for her and when she came back she founded HISA (Hope Initiative for Southern Africa), whose goals have far exceeded her initial task of raising money to help pay for materials and labor for running water to a school and a soup kitchen facility with which she had worked. Lauren has the knack of conveying her passion and commitment without making anyone feel inferior or alienated. In her work in Namibia, her enthusiasm is infectious. Her initiative and sense of purpose are obvious from her successes and her strong sense of integrity shines through all of her initiatives. Her work in establishing HISA will be a lasting legacy."
