Supporting comments: "Sia’s commitment to social justice at Denison began with her participation in the Pre-Orientation Service trip to Washington, DC. Her leadership of the Asian Culture Club helped members to focus less on social programming and more on the political and educational topics germane to the Asian and Asian-American communities. Her work also helped lay the foundation for the newly organized Asian-American Student Union. Under her leadership Denison won the bid to host the Fall 2007 Midwest Asian American Student Union Leadership Retreat. This was the first time a small liberal arts college had hosted the event. Sia has been dutiful and attentive to the needs of people who are still seeking their own voices and has advocated for Denison to be a more inclusive environment for all. She will leave a major legacy of scholarship, service and activism."
