| History: | Built as Doane Academy, a college preparatory school, the building originally contained a 500-seat chapel on the third floor. The Academy closed when no longer needed in 1927 though the building continued to be used for classroom and office space. William H. Doane was not only a benefactor to Denison but widely known as a composer of church hymns and editor of The Baptist Hymnal. |
