Building: East Hall, 1953
Architect/Designer: William Gehron
History: East Hall, originally called Deeds, was given in memory of Edith Walton Deeds by her son Charles. Charles' father, Colonel Edward A. Deeds, class of 1897, gave the land to the college in 1917 as part of the Deeds Purchase. The hall was renamed East in 1971 at the request of the family who objected to the university's decision to make the dorm coed.
Building Style: Built as a near replica of Shaw Hall, which stands directly opposite.
Current Use: East Hall remains coed today and houses 131 first-year students in single, double, triple and quad units.
