History: Originally named Life Science Building.
Building Style: Harvard brick and Bedford limestone in the Georgian Revival style
Named For: Gift of Miss Ida F. Doane, daughter of William Howard Doane. The building was renamed Higley Hall in 1997 in recognition of a substantial gift provided by Albert M. Higley, Jr., and his wife, Beverly, for the eventual renovation and modernization of the structure. Mr. Higley is a 1951 Denison alumnus. The Albert M. Higley Company, a building construction company founded by Albert M. Higley, Denison Trustee, 1954-59, has been involved with the construction or renovation of more than 20 Denison buildings over the years.
Current Use: Houses the departments of Communication, Economics, the First Year Program, and the Center for Service Learning.
