Information for Genealogists

The Archives collects the historical records of Denison University, including information on the university's development, academic programs, buildings and grounds, faculty and administrators, student life, and alumni.

Such records are of limited value to genealogists, and the archives do not maintain historical records for Granville or for Licking County, Ohio.

The Denisoniana Collection contains books by Denison authors, and publications by and about Denison University.

Special Collections house a variety of books and manuscripts donated to Denison University. Some items are rare and/or in fragile condition.

Archives and Special Collections materials do not circulate, nor can such items be borrowed through interlibrary loan. Researchers may use these materials in the Archives Reading Room. It is advisable to contact the University Archivist prior to visiting the archives: Heather Lyle, 740-587-6399, email: lyleh@denison.edu
