Building: Samson Talbot Hall of Biological Science, 2003
Architect/Designer: Graham Gund Architects of Cambridge, Massachusetts
Named For: The name Talbot honors both Denison's 5th president Samson Talbot (1863-1873) and the former Talbot Hall, which stood on the current site of Knapp and served the University for nearly 100 years
Current Use: At the western edge of the Campus Common, the new Talbot Hall was built to take over the functions housed previously in Higley Hall, a building erected in 1941 when biology, as both a discipline and an academic department at the College, was much smaller. The new space provides greatly expanded facilities that reflect advanaces in molecular biology and biochemistry.
