    A digital image database of over 400,000 images from all over the world
  • Art Collection
  • Metropolitan Museum of Art Permanent Collection
    Search the permanent collection for "ceramic" to view a list of objects by place of origin
  • The British Museum Collection Highlights
    Search on "ceramic" to view objects
  • Gardiner Museum Collections
    Browse the museum's collection, organized by place of origin

To find general information about a culture, use the following reference materials:

You should also look for books in the OhioLINK Catalog.

Once in the catalog, follow these steps:

  1. Select KEYWORD as your type of search.
  2. Enter the following search string, using some or all of the terms below. Be sure to include the parentheses () and asterisks * and "or" between each search term:
    (clay or porcelain or ceramic* or pot*) and
  3. After the "and", type the name of the country or civilization. In some cases, you might want to search multiple terms.
  4. EXAMPLE:
    (clay or ceramic* or pot*) and (kish or iraq)
