Career Services, Junior Check List

Your Future career opportunities and choices are affected by the planning you do now. Completing a successful collegiate experience and managing a life time of career challenges do not just happen -- they are planned! The following checklist is provided to help you plan for a successful future:

I have read and completed the Checklist for Sophomores

I have an appointment with a career counselor to discuss obtaining career-related experience and other services and resources available in Career Services.

I have investigated career information on the Career Services website (www.denison.edu/career)

I will attend Career Services Annual Fairs:

All Fairs are from 11:30am-3:00pm in the Slayter Union.

I will network with different organizations and hand them my resume. This will help me gain skills in presenting myself as a professional

I am keeping my "resume file" up to date with activities, projects, and committees.

I have talked to at least two professionals from my area of interest in an "informational interview."

I have read at least one book on career planning (such as What Color Is Your Parachute?).

I am familiar with the resources available to me in the Career Services Resource Library in 306 Burton D. Morgan.

I have increased my skills by being involved in student organizations.

I have updated my resume & profile info. in the DENISON eXPERIENCE system.

I have appropriate interview attire for next year. I found doing this over my summer vacation was good time management.

If I am considering a graduate program, I have contacted graduate schools, drafted a graduate school essay, registered to take the appropriate graduate school exam and met with a career counselor to review my application materials for graduate school.

Whether you are a freshman or a senior, Career Services wants to help you manage your career decisions and involve you in the planning of your future. Our intent is to assist you in taking responsibility for the course of your career and the direction of your life!
