Kathleen Powell began her tenure in university career services in 1985 at Ashland College, now Ashland University. Her career services work included positions at Knox College (IL),  Marietta College (OH), and Grinnell College (IA), Immediately prior to her appointment as director of Career Exploration & Development, Kathleen served as director at the University of Akron Career Center, her undergraduate alma mater.  Kathleen has authored chapters in several different publications, served as an academic advisor and teaching faculty at Marietta College. She has also served in a variety of leadership positions and is Past-President of Midwest ACE (2000 - 2001) and past Vice President-College for the National Association of Colleges and Employers (2007-09). Kathleen is the recipient of the J.W. Paquette Award for Superior Leadership Award, Midwest ACE. (2002)Charles Sumner Harrison Award,Marietta College, March 2007, High Five Award,Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers, August 2006, Teacher Appreciation Award, Sigma Kappa, Marietta College, November 2005 and holds a Management Leadership Certificate for Career Services Professionals, National Association of Colleges and Employers,July 1997.  Kathleen is a prolific presenter at both the national and regional levels with more than 25 presentations.  Kathleen is an effective leader and creative programmer, able to create, develop and implement programs supporting office vision and strategic planning.  Dedicated to strategic visioning and management, collaborative partnerships and faculty engagement.  She has a solid understanding of career development, student development and organizational and leadership theories.  Kathleen is committed to professional, student-center advising, connecting employers, alumni, faculty and staff with students.  Kathleen holds a Masters of Science in Student Personnel  from Miami University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Akron.  Connect with Kathleen on Linkedin, http://www.linkedin.com/in/kathleenipowell.
