Administrative Computing

Administrative Computing is responsible for maintaining data processing services for Admissions, Accounting and Budgetary Finance, Cashiering, Financial Aid, Housing, Human Resources, Purchasing, Student Records, and URPA. The primary vehicle for the administrative systems is an Oracle relational database application called Banner, which is licensed from the SunGard SCT Corporation. In addition, they support the Web based Self-Service modules which enable Faculty, Staff, and Students to access their personal data stored in the administrative systems.

The Administrative Computing role is to insure the integrity of the database, maintain software currency, and provide supplemental reporting and processing.

It is Denison's policy that administrative data is owned by the office which bears the responsibility for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of that data. Denison employees who need access to the Banner interactive system or reports from the administrative system must have their supervisor or the liaison in their area initiate a request. If the data to be accessed is not owned by the employee's office, then the owner of the data in question must approve the request.
