Printer Policy
The following policies and procedures for deployment of printers have been developed to ensure the best possible support of the community and to help the Support Services staff deploy the equipment in the most efficient manner. Contact the Help Desk if you have a need for an additional printer.
Public Access Labs
High speed/high capacity laser printers are provided in Fellows Hall. The printers are located in Rooms 100 and 101 and can be accessed by all the labs on Fellows first floor (100, 101, 102, 103).
Academic Departments
Computing Services provides one networked laser printer for each department, as well as a color inkjet printer at each department secretary's desk. Faculty members can send their print jobs to the secretary by email attachments or by giving the secretary access to a networked shared file. For departments with large staffs or members who are separated by long distances we may provide additional networked laser printers, or inkjet printers for individual use.
New Faculty
New faculty may request a current standard inkjet printer as part of their initial computer system. We encourage all faculty to use the existing shared networked laser printer in the department whenever possible to reduce the number of printers on campus.
Administrative Departments
Computing Services provides one networked laser printer for each department, as well as a color inkjet printer at each department secretary's desk. Staff members can send their print jobs to the secretary by email attachments or by giving the secretary access to a networked shared file. Depending on the amount of printing done by staff members, we may provide laser printers to be shared within an office, or we may install a high speed high capacity printer that can be shared by several members of the department. Department Directors can request an individual inkjet printer for their office for confidential printing.
Printing Services
Color laserjet, bulk duplicating, envelope addressing, line printers, and other types of printing are provided by Office Services and/or Computing Services on an as-needed basis.
