Remove Adware and Spyware

Adware and spyware are programs that are installed on your computer through the internet. While these programs and files are not physically harmful to your computer, they slow down web browsing by causing ads to pop-up when you browse the internet. To get rid of them, you can download for free programs such as Ad-Aware and Spybot, which are offered for quick access on our site.

Ad-Aware cleans up most of the adware and spyware on your computer, but running Spybot after Ad-Aware will usually pick up a few items that Ad-Aware missed. Spybot also offers an immunizing feature, which prevents some adware and spyware from being installed.

Install Ad-Aware from Lavasoft

Update Ad-Aware before scanning! Get the updates through the Ad-Aware program.
Select and execute Perform Full System Scan and remove everything that it finds.
Run the Smart System Scan once a week. Be sure to update each time.

Download Spybot Search & Destroy.
Update Spybot before scanning! The updates tell Spybot what to look for and are very important. Get the updates through the Spybot program, if you can. If not, scan and clean your computer. Then reboot and try to update again.
Run the default scan and remove everything that it finds.
Run the scan once a week. Be sure to update Spybot each time before you scan.
