DESCRIPTIONS
Blackboard 9 Basics - Learn how to navigate the new Blackboard 9 interface. This workshop will provide hands-on training of basic Bb functions that include creating folders, posting files, sending e-mail, and customizing the look and feel of your Bb9 site.
Blackboard 9 Communication Tools - Blackboard 9 has expanded the tools that faculty and students can use to communicate. These tools can address certain pedagogical goals and student learning styles. The communication tools that will be covered in this hands-on workshop include discussion board, blogs, wikis, personal journal, chat and e-mail. Prerequisite required – Blackboard 9 Basics.
Blackboard 9 Grade Centre - The Gradebook in Blackboard has been completely redesigned in Blackboard 9 (now called the Grade Centre). The Grade Centre now has a similar look and feel of an Excel spreadsheet and allows for dropped grades and more customization. Prerequisite required – Blackboard 9 Basics.
Getting Up To Speed With Office 2007 (Windows) - Learn to use Office 2007 new interface. Participants will learn how to navigate the new interface including the Ribbon and Tab system, learn some of the major changes from Office 2003, and receive additional tips that will help you with the transition from Office 2003 to Office 2007.
Getting Up To Speed With Office 2008 (Macintosh) - Learn the differences in Office 2008 compared with previous versions. This session includes using the Element Gallery and more.
iPhoto/iTunes 09 - Learn how to add and organize your photos and music in iPhoto and iTunes. Instruction will include how to use the editing tools in iPhoto and how to create CDs of your music. These applications can only be found on a Macintosh computer.
iMovie in iLife 09 - Learn how edit their footage and add special effects, transitions, titles to your movie, and how to export a finished movie.
iDVD 09 - Learn how to transform your iMovie project into a DVD that can be played on most DVD players.
PowerPoint Design Principles and Basics (Windows and Macintosh) - Learn about the most appropriate design principles when creating a PowerPoint presentation. In addition, learn to insert slides, text, clipart, pictures and more.
Adding Media to PowerPoint (Windows and Macintosh) - Learn to enhance your presentation by applying slide transitions, custom animations, adding sound, video, record audio, and even inserting a YouTube video. Prerequisite required - PowerPoint Design Principles and Basics, or equivalent skill level.
Using Referencing Tools for Bibliographies and Citations - Become familiar with Word 2007/2008 referencing tools. Learn the available bibliography citation styles, how to insert a citation and add a placeholder, manage sources, add a bibliography, and insert a footnote. Prerequisite required - Getting Up To Speed With Office 2007, and Word 2007 Basics or equivalent skill level.
Why Use Blackboard? - Blackboard is an excellent on-line tool that faculty can use to post a course syllabus and readings (making sure that copyright issues are followed). It also allows faculty to easily communicate with students using various tools that can address student’s learning styles and interests. Blackboard can also be used for projects, organizations and portfolios.
Word 2007/2008 Basics - Word 2007/2008 Basics is an introductory course that will teach participants some basic level word processing skills.Participants will also learn to use their personal or U drive to manage documents and folders.
Word - Comment & Track Changes - If you want to eliminate paper waste, explore comments & track changes that can be used when developing a paper or grading your students' work. Prerequisite required - Getting Up To Speed With Office 2007, and Word 2007 Basics or equivalent skill level.
