myDENISON Portal Tutorial

Logging in to myDENISON

Logging in to myDENISON requires your valid Denison email username and password. Your web browser must also accept cookies. If you are using a Denison-provided machine, this option is already set. If you are working from your personal computer, you may need to set it yourself.

myDENISON features

If you have used a portal service before (myYahoo, etc.), you will probably understand most of what you see when you log in to myDENISON. There are three important areas in myDENISON:

  1. options and navigation in the upper left corner,
  2. tabs across the top, and
  3. the body, comprised of various information channels which you can add, delete, and rearrange to suit your needs.

Options and Navigation

At the top of myDENISON, you will see a greeting, portal options, and a link to logout.

Tabs

The first page you see when you login to myDENISON varies depending on your role at Denison. Students will see a Students tab; faculty and staff will see an Employee tab. This tab gives you access to services, such as your e-mail, Student or Employee Self Service, and DU announcements.

Depending on your role, you will see three or more other tabs in the row across the top of your screen. The most commonly seen tabs are:

If you are enrolled as a student, you will also see a Courses tab, where you will find links to registration information, course evaluations, and the Blackboard system. If you are teaching faculty, you will find the Teaching tab, which contains channels for the the registration database, course evaluation results, the course catalog, and the student and faculty handbooks.

These are the myDENISON default tabs. Look at the Manipulating Tabs and Columns section for information on adding new tabs.

myDENISON Body

The main body of myDENISON is located beneath the tabs. Each tab is made up of a default set of channels, some of which can be customized.
