Logging in to myDENISON
Logging in to myDENISON requires your valid Denison email username and password. Your web browser must also accept cookies. If you are using a Denison-provided machine, this option is already set. If you are working from your personal computer, you may need to set it yourself.
myDENISON features
If you have used a portal service before (myYahoo, etc.), you will probably understand most of what you see when you log in to myDENISON. There are three important areas in myDENISON:
- options and navigation in the upper left corner,
- tabs across the top, and
- the body, comprised of various information channels which you can add, delete, and rearrange to suit your needs.
Options and Navigation
At the top of myDENISON, you will see a greeting, portal options, and a link to logout.
- Home returns you to your current tab.
- Site Map provides an easy to see index of myDenison.
- Change Layout & Skin allows you to rearrange and delete channels, change the number and widths of columns on your page and the names of your tabs, set a new default tab, or add a new channel. You can also pick the themes and colors that make myDENISON easiest for you to use. To learn about personalizing myDENISON, skip to the Creating and Rearranging Tabs and Columns or Channels sections. Tabs
The first page you see when you login to myDENISON varies depending on your role at Denison. Students will see a Students tab; faculty and staff will see an Employee tab. This tab gives you access to services, such as your e-mail, Student or Employee Self Service, and DU announcements.
Depending on your role, you will see three or more other tabs in the row across the top of your screen. The most commonly seen tabs are:
- Computing is a tab for useful computing resources. Here you will find channels for campus computing announcements, Novell Remote Accesss, and resources for Denison pagemaintainers.
- My Stuff is a place for you to add channels of personal interest to you. News, personal bookmarks, and movie listings are just a few of the items on to this tab.
- Denison Info is for basic Denison information, such as local weather, DU people and site searches, and DU news releases and events.
If you are enrolled as a student, you will also see a Courses tab, where you will find links to registration information, course evaluations, and the Blackboard system. If you are teaching faculty, you will find the Teaching tab, which contains channels for the the registration database, course evaluation results, the course catalog, and the student and faculty handbooks.
These are the myDENISON default tabs. Look at the Manipulating Tabs and Columns section for information on adding new tabs.
myDENISON Body
The main body of myDENISON is located beneath the tabs. Each tab is made up of a default set of channels, some of which can be customized.
