Spring 2008 Freestyle Training

Training for Spring Semester 2008 is entering its final cycle.  Training will be offered in the summer (probably June and/or July) for staff still on campus, as well as during August in preparation for the 2008-2009 school year.

Note the new Freestyle web editing classes.  Our course curriculum has changed:

• What's New in Freestyle for Spring 2008:  New Element Names, Rotating Images, Tabbed Boxes, Bio Publishing, Widgets and more!
  
• Beginning Freestyle I: Introduction to the Freestyle Interface. Hands-on work includes creating pages, editing content, publishing (approx. 1 hour).
  
• Beginning Freestyle II:  Instruction on how to edit left navigation menus and page footers, followed by a 20-30 minute open workshop (approx. 1 hour).
  
• Intermediate Freestyle I for Windows Users: Images, PDFs and Word in Freestyle: This course shows how to manipulate images with Microsoft Picture Manager, then upload and use them along with PDF's and Word documents in Freestyle. PDF creation software available to Windows users will be covered. (approx. 1 hour).
• Intermediate Freestyle I for Mac Users: Images, PDFs and Word in Freestyle:  This course shows how to manipulate images with iPhoto, and create PDFs using the Print command.  We'll then upload and use them along with Word documents in Freestyle. (approx. 1 hour).
• Intermediate Freestyle II - In-Depth discussion of Freestyle interface - Workflows, Workspaces, Story and Element Profiles.  Bulk Edit, Versioning, and Search methods are also covered. (approx. 1 hour).
• The Tao of Freestyle - Topics covered include separation of content and layout, principles of page design, getting your creative ideas on the Denison web site, harmony with nature, and why MS Word works in some situations but not others.
