Electronic Journal Entries
All Denison journal entries can now be submitted electronically using an excel template. Here is a copy of the current journal entry [xls] template.
The template is protected to prevent the user from accidentally altering key features which allow the journal entry to be uploaded into Banner automatically.
Please follow these guideline:
- You are required to enter a date in the top line. This is the posting date that will appear in Banner and it must be in the current month unless you have permission from Nancy Cullins or Cathy Untied.
- Your name is required at the bottom of the form.
- Debits and Credits must be equal.
- The 35-character description in column H is the only description that will appear in Banner. Try to make it clear and informative.
- Backup tabs 1 and 2 are free-form and available for your use. If possible attach your backup documentation electronically so you do not need to send any paper backup.
When your journal entry is complete you should save a copy in your own directory, using a name that is unique and informative. Then, using explorer, copy the file and paste it into Cathy Untied's LAN inbox in the folder called Journal Entry Approval Queue. (S:/Shared/departments/controller/LAN inboxes/Untied).
