Financial Aid Awards
If your financial aid award is not reflected on the Statement of Account, it is crucial that you contact the Financial Aid Office immediately. Awards cannot be made until all necessary documents have been received by the Financial Aid Office, and you will not be able to officially register for the semester if you have an outstanding balance.
Outside Loans and Scholarships
If you have been approved for a loan or scholarship through outside sources, the credit will be posted when we receive payment and, if necessary, obtain the student's endorsement. Please forward written notification from the awarding institution to the Financial Aid Office documenting any expected outside award not appearing on your Financial Aid Award Letter. The Financial Aid Office will update the student's award package as needed and send out a new Financial Aid Award Letter.
Work Study Awards
Work Study Awards do not appear as credits on your Statement of Account because the award reflects the gross amount a student is permitted to earn as a Work Study student. After securing a job on campus, Students with Work Study Awards as part of their financial aid package will be paid "biweekly" (via a payroll check) for actual hours worked (at the rate of $8.50 per hour for 2012-2013). A student may have their payroll check, or a portion thereof, applied directly to their student account through payroll deductions by completing a Payroll Deduction Authorization card in Student Accounts. For assistance in finding employment on campus, please view the job postings on MyDenison beginning in late August.
Book Grant Awards
Book Grant Awards do not affect your account balance. If you have been awarded a Book Grant and your financial aid package is complete, you will see a Book Grant credit of $325 on your account. There will also be a corresponding charge of $325, which indicates that the Book Grant money will be transferred to an account in your name at the bookstore prior to the start of the semester. You will use your ID to access these funds for purchases at the bookstore. Any portion not used during the semester will carry forward to the next semester or academic year. Provided there are no outstanding debts to the college, any unspent Book Grant funds will be refunded upon graduation or withdrawal from Denison.
