Seasonal flu vaccines will be available for students on Oct. 22

Denison will bring Maxim Health Systems to campus on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to administer the seasonal influenza vaccine. The location of the vaccination clinic will be on the second floor of Slayter Hall. The cost is $30, and students can pay by check, cash, credit cards or by Denison Dollars. Checks can be made out to Maxim Health Services. Denison Dollars will be used inside the Denison Bookstore where a voucher for the vaccine administration will be issued.

Although the regular seasonal flu vaccine does not protect against H1N1, we encourage students to get the seasonal flu vaccination this year. It is especially important that individuals in high-risk categories (those who are pregnant, have asthma or other respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, liver, blood, neurological diseases, diabetes, HIV, or are taking immunosuppressive drugs) get the seasonal flu vaccine.

Additionally this year, high risk individuals are encouraged to get the pneumococcal (pneumonia) vaccine, along with the seasonal flu vaccine. The cost of the Pneumovax vaccination is $45 and students can pay by sources listed above. Maxim Health Systems will have both vaccines available on Oct. 22.
