Director, Health and Counseling Services, came to Denison University in 1997 after completing a doctoral internship with the Northwest Ohio Consortium for Training in Professional Psychology in Toledo, Ohio. Her doctorate is from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Lake Forest College. Sonya's professional interests include depression, anxiety, cultural diversity, eating disorders, sexual trauma and recovery, bereavement and stress management. She holds a special interest in women's issues groups. Sonya co-facilitates In the Company of Sisters, a support group that addresses issues affecting women of color. She provides outreach programs and workshops to faculty, staff, students and neighboring communities.
