Our philosophy is to provide a meeting and dining environment specialized to not only meet, but also exceed your expectations. Our team is committed to providing service and menu flexibility so that your event will be uniquely your own.

Please keep in mind that the menu items and services included in this brochure are a sampling of what we can do for you. Should your event require special services or dietary considerations, we will tailor our offerings to meet your needs. Catering Information

+ Ordering Timelines

Ordering Timeline

In order for us to properly prepare your function, please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to the event date. Smaller events should be completely arranged 1 week prior to the day of the event.

+ Room Reservations

Room Reservations

Reserve the room or area for the event with the Facility Scheduler. Please keep in mind that many of these rooms are reserved months in advance. To reserve a dining hall room or The Roost in Slayter, call the Catering Office at (740) 587-6686.

+ Delivery Charges

Delivery Charges

For any location on campus outside of our dining halls there will be a $20 delivery charge and a $25 charge for locations off-campus.

+ Guaranteed Count

Guaranteed Count

A guaranteed guest count is required by 12:00pm, 2 business days prior to the event date. The catering department will plan, purchase and prepare for all the guests you indicate will attend. For guest counts that are not confirmed 2 business days prior, the estimated number on the confirmation sheet will be used. Events will be billed at 95% of the guaranteed count or actual attendance, whichever is greater.

+ Cancellations

Cancellations

Any event or menu itemsthat is cancelled less than 3 business days prior to the event date will be billed 50% of the total cost of the confirmation invoice. Events or menu items cancelled 24 hours prior to the event date may be billed 95% of the guaranteed count.

+ Leftovers

Leftovers

We try to plan your event so that there will be little or no food left. Please remember, however, that because of health regulations, leftovers may not be taken from the catered event.

+ Off-Campus Vendors

Off-Campus Vendors

In the event that off-campus vendors deliver products and equipment or staff onto campus, we will require a certificate of liability insurance for $1,000,000 naming Denison University as additionally insured. The certificate can be faxed to the Auxiliary Office at (740) 587-8321.

+ Alcoholic Beverages

Alcoholic Beverages

Should your program include alcoholic beverages, your catering coordinator will be glad to assist you with all arrangements and offer suggestions for the most appropriate service for your special event type.

 

Alcohol Policies

In accordance with Ohio Law, all beverages are to remain within the facility requested for services. Beverages not consumed will become the property of  Denison University Catering. No cash bar will be permitted on campus anywhere except being the 3rd floor of Slayter.

It is the policy of Denison University that no alcoholic beverages be brought on the premises for consumption without written permision. An alcohol permit is required to serve alcholic beverages on campus grounds. Denison University Catering reserves the right to refuse service of alcohol to any person.

+ Equipment

Equipment

All equipment is the sole property of Denison Catering and must be secured by the customer until picked up or returned back to the halls. Any equipment returned damaged or not returned within 24 hours will be charged at full replacement cost.

+ Meal Credits

Meal Credits

Credits are available for those guests that are on a qualifying Meal Plan subject to the following conditions:

  1. The function is a meal event booked through the catering office.
  2. You notify us at the time of booking that you will have students attending the event that will be eligible for credit.
  3. The names of students on the meal plans are submitted to the catering office 2 business days prior to the event.
+ Service Time

Service Time

Buffet lines will remain open for one hour, unless arranged otherwise. Functions requiring additional serving time will necessitate a minimum charge of $50 per hour. If a program follows your catered meal, we recommend a 15 minute break to allow for clean up and to avoid additional charges for extended serving time.
