News and Announcements for the 2012-2013 School Year

Dining Services is always looking to improve what we can do for you so we collaborated with your DCGA Dining Committee to make the following improvements for this school year!

  • Meal Plan A Changes - We recognized that Meal Plan A had too many restrictions so we made some changes to make it better! Our new and improved Meal Plan A now offers 20 meals per week, $100 Flex Dollars, and allows you to bring guests and visitors with you to our dining halls! Meal Plan A will continue to allow you to use Meal Exchange at Slayter Market and with these changes you will also be able to use your meal plan to access our new Residential Dining Simply To Go located at Curtis Dining Hall! Like our other meal plans, any unused meals at the end of the week will rollover into the following week.
  • Residential Simply To Go - Dining Services and your DCGA Dining Committee are excited to introduce Residential Dining Simply To Go! This new meal option, which will be located at Curtis Dining Hall, allows you to use your board meal plan to create your perfect meal or snack, ready whenever you're hungry! Simply To Go menu items are prepared fresh daily and are conveniently packaged for wherever and whenever you want your meal or snack on the go! Your meal swipe will allow you to choose from a variety of entrees, side dishes, desserts, and beverages to create a meal that is fit for you!
  • Late Night - Late Night has a new day and location! Join us every Wednesday from 10pm - 11pm at the Roost! Come socialize with friends, play a round of pool or watch the big game on one of our TV's while grabbing a snack to eat!

Dining Policies

  • Meals Per Week -- Meal Plans A, B, C, and Apartment Alternative Plan 3 have a designated number of meals available per week. Meals are based upon a full seven-day week that start on Fridays, and will be prorated during shorter weeks. Unused meals will carry over from week to week, but will be forfeited at the end of each semester. Each visit to a dining hall, the Slayter Meal Exchange, Residential Dining Simply To Go or the Late Night Option is considered a meal.

  • Block Meals -- Apartment Alternative Plans 1 and 2 and the SRH Plan have a set number of meals available to be used during the semester. The entire number of Block Meals are available up front (vs. being allotted on a weekly basis). All unused Block Meals are forfeited at the end of the semester. Each visit to the dining hall, the Slayter Meal Exchange, Residential Dining Simply To Go or the Late Night Option is considered a meal.

  • Flex Dollars -- Flex Dollars can be used to purchase food at the Slayter Snack Bar, Sandellas Flatbread, Grill 155, Substantials, Garden Gourmet or Sushi with Gusto. Flex Dollars may also be used to purchase meals for you or your friends and family inside the dining halls. All unused Flex Dollars are forfeited at the end of the semester.

  • Denison Dollars -- Meal plans can be supplemented at any time with Denison Dollars, which are purchased through Student Accounts. Any unused Denison Dollars will carry over from semester to semester and year to year. Provided there are no outstanding debts to the college, any unspent Denison Dollars can be refunded at the end of any academic year upon written request to Student Accounts.

  • Lost or stolen Meal Cards -- Lost or stolen Meal Cards can be replaced. Stop in the Service Center in Curtis (lower level) to report your lost card.

  • Seconds Policy -- You never have to be too shy to ask for seconds with our Campus Dining Program. Our generous policy allows for a second helping of many menu favorites. All you have to do is ask! We try not to “over portion” when serving our guests, so that food is not wasted. If you would like a bit more, or even a bit less, just let us know!

  • Dietary Needs -- Do you have particular dietary needs? No problem! Our Campus Dining Services Program can accommodate your special dietary requirements. For more information, please contact our Meal Plan Administrator, Cindy Allen, at 740-587-6690 or by email at allenc@denison.edu.

  • Dining Policies and Procedures -- One of our main goals is to provide a pleasant, clean, comfortable and satisfying dining experience. In order to meet this goal, we ask for your assistance with the following procedures:

    • Please bus your dishes and disposables from your table when you have finished and don't forget to compost!
    • Please refrain from taking food, dishes or utensils from the dining area.
    • Remember that Meal Cards are non-transferable. Meal cards cannot be used by anyone but the purchaser.
