Meal Plans
In order to meet your campus dining needs, with input from our Student Dining Committee, we are pleased to offer the following meal plans for the 2007-2008 academic year.
- All students residing on campus must choose one of the Mandatory Meal Plans.
- Seniors who were not able to get into the Apartment Style Housing, may choose from one of the Mandatory Meal Plans, or may choose the Senior Resident Housing Plan.
- Any student residing off campus, or in Apartment Alternative Housing, may choose from one of the Mandatory Meal Plans, or from any of the Apartment Alternative Plans.
Mandatory Plans:
- Plan A – Carte Blanche
Description: Carte Blanche – Unlimited access to Curtis and Huffman Dining Halls, as well as the late night options in both locations.
Price: $1910 per semester
Recommended for: Any Students who enjoy several meals daily, and socialization. This plan is the best value for your dollar, and allows you to come in as many times per day as you wish-enjoy a nice meal, grab a quick sandwich or light dessert with a beverage, as often as you would like daily!
- Plan B – 14 Meals per Week (with Rollover!) and $135 Flex Dollars per semester
Description: 14 Meals per Week (with Rollover!) and $135 Flex Dollars per semester
Price: $1805 per semester
Recommended for: Students who enjoy two full meals per day, and the ability to drop in at Slayter to purchase a beverage or snack with their Flex Dollars. The “rollover” feature of this meal plan, allows students who do not use all of their available meals per week the flexibility of “rolling them over” each week throughout the semester!
- Plan C – 10 Meals per Week (with Rollover!) and $250 in Flex Dollars per semester
Description: 10 Meals per Week (with Rollover!) and $250 in Flex Dollars per semester
Price: $1695 per semester
Recommended for: Students whose schedules are busier, and cannot make it to the dining halls on a regular/daily basis. Also a good plan for students who have the time during the week for a couple of meals in the dining halls each day, but who leave campus on the weekends. The “rollover” feature of this meal plan, allows students who do not use all of their available meals per week the flexibility of “rolling them over” each week throughout the semester!
- SRH Plan (Senior Resident Housing Plan – available to seniors only)
Description: 100 Block of Meals, plus $350 Flex Dollars per semester
Price: $1100 per semester
Recommended for: Seniors who reside on campus who do not want to have a “full” meal plan. This plan allows the Senior student to enjoy 100 meals per semester (approximately 3 meals per week per semester) in the dining halls, along with $350 Flex Dollars to spend at Slayter for meals and snacks.
Apartment Alternative Plans:
- Plan 1 – 100 Block of Meals plus $350 Flex Dollars per semester
Description: 100 Block of Meals plus $350 Flex Dollars per semester
Price: $1100 per semester
Recommended for: Students who enjoy having some of their meals prepared for them (approximately 3 per week), with the flexibility of Flex Dollars to spend at Slayter in one of the many retail venues.
- Plan 2 – 70 Block of Meals plus $400 Flex Dollars per semester
Description: 70 Block of Meals plus $400 Flex Dollars per semester
Price: $950 per semester
Recommended for: Students who are busy, and don’t have a lot of time to get to a dining hall—approximately 2 meals per week are included on this plan, with even more Flex Dollars to spend at Slayter in one of the many retail venues. Are you a working student, or involved in many campus activities, including sports, student organizations, DCGA, WDUB, the Denisonian, art, or music? Do you find yourself in or near Slayter often during the week? If so, this plan may fit your needs particularly well!
- Plan 3 – 5 Meals per Week plus $50 Flex Dollars per semester
Description: 5 Meals per Week plus $50 Flex Dollars per semester
Price: $650 per semester
Recommended for: Students who are very busy, and are not on campus often. This plan works well for students who: work off campus, are doing an internship, or whose extra-curricular activities do not allow a lot of time for on campus dining.
ID Card and Flex Dollars
Selection of a Campus Dining Services Meal Plan entitles you to have meals/Flex Dollars on your Denison ID Card, which allows you purchasing power equivalent to the plan you have selected. Here is how it works: Bring your ID card to Curtis or Huffman, and the “checker” will swipe your card as you enter the dining area. Enjoy whatever options are available when you enter – food, beverage, desserts, snacks, as much or as little as you would like. If you have Flex Dollars with your meal plan, stop in Slayter, and choose what you would like for a meal or a snack, then head to the cashier with your ID card. The cashier will ring up your sale, then swipe your card, taking off the amount of Flex Dollars to pay for your food/beverage.
Lost or stolen Meal Cards
Lost or stolen Meal Cards can be replaced. Should this happen to you…stop in the Service Center in Curtis (lower level) to report your lost card, and get a new one.
Seconds Policy
You never have to be too shy to ask for seconds with our Campus Dining Program. Our generous policy allows for a second helping of many menu favorites. All you have to do is ask! We try not to “over portion” when serving our guests, so that food is not wasted. If you would like a bit more, or even a bit less, just let us know!
Dietary Needs
Do you have particular dietary needs? No problem! Our Campus Dining Services Program can accommodate your special dietary requirements. For more information, please contact Dining Services General Manager, Becky Macheda, at x6690 or by email at machedab@denison.edu.
Dining Policies and Procedures
One of our main goals is to provide a pleasant, clean, comfortable and satisfying dining experience. In order to meet this goal, we ask for your assistance with the following procedures:
- Please bus your tray and disposables from your table when you have finished dining.
- Please refrain from taking food, dishes or utensils from the dining area.
- Remember that Meal Cards are non-transferable. Meal cards cannot be used by anyone but the purchaser.
