Why Trayless?
In the fall of 2009, Curtis and Huffman went "trayless". The result has shown that there is between one third to two thirds less food wasted. Also, less water, electricity and soap is used significantly reducing our energy consumption and in-turn reducing our "carbon footprint."
Composting
Partnering with the Campus Sustainability Department, Dining Services has added compost bins to each dining hall. By composting we can help turn our food waste into something useful! Don't let your food waste sit in a landfill, it can be used to help power the future and help achieve the goal of Sustainability!
Grounds for Growth
One person's trash is another person's treasure. Dining Services offers free coffee grounds for use as compost in your personal gardens. We have a Grounds for Growth bin at Jazzman's for guest to help themselves to our coffee grounds.

Better Tomorrow Plan
As a guest, it is easy to make smart environmental choices when you dine at a Sodexo café. We know today's college students want to do the right thing for the planet and we also understand you lead busy lives, so your Sodexo chefs and managers do a lot of the work for you behind the scenes! From purchasing local seasonal produce whenever possible to reducing inorganic and organic waste, your campus team is dedicated to providing you with an exceptional dining experience that is good for you and good for the planet.
This commitment was formalized with Sodexo's Better Tomorrow Plan.
