New Items

1.Building Services Pilot Program - An idea was raised regarding whether or not it would make sense to suggest a pilot program for building services assistants which would rearrange the reporting structure and create a self-directed work environment. The primary concern was how to address morale issues that seem to bubble up from this group from time to time.  Essentially, Jim explained that it was not HRAG’s role to advocate changes in departmental structure such as this.  However, Jim will discuss with Art Chonko some of the common issues that are brought to HRAG from the Building Services area.  Some of those issues seem to center around communications, connectedness to the larger community, and overall climate.

2. HRAG Representative Openings - We have three openings.  Sally Scheiderer has agreed to represent the academic secretaries and academic support, Josh Hoskinson will represent security, and Ed Best will represent Building Services.  All three candidates were deemed elected.

3.Security Event Rate - It was brought to the group that the hourly rate for staff who volunteer to work events has not changed in a while.  Human Resources will review the rate for a possible change at the beginning of the new fiscal year.

4. Flex Time and Schedules - A question was asked regarding the flex time policy at the college.  We do have a flex time policy.  The policy makes it possible for an employee to flex the begin time of his/her shift and the end time.  Flex time is not guaranteed and depends on the job being done and whether it is manageable for the department.  Supervisor approval is required for all flex time schedules.

Updates

1.HR Communication Meetings - HR Communication meetings are continuing.  Each representative should try to attend the meeting for the area that they represent.
