1.Resignation - Sally informed HRAG that she is stepping down from the position because of her resignation in the Arts Department (via email).
2.Policy Update - Barbara informed the group that the recent review of policies will be incorporated in the revised SOS handbook, which is expected to be published July 2007. HRAG reviewed policy changes for funeral leave (add: grandchild and legal guardian); acceptable use policy for computer use(to mirror Administrative handbook); employment of relatives(addition: grandchild); non-discrimination policy (addition: department and address); and employee discipline & marginal performance(to mirror Administrative handbook).
3.Election Information - Barbara stated that with Sally stepping down there would be a total of five members who need to be replaced. Barbara asked if any member whose term was up this year would like to stay on for another year; two members volunteered (B. Carr & L. Payne). With the succession of positions within the group, L. MacKenzie-Crane will be next years' Chair, and E. Best as Co-Chair. Barbara thanked the group for their participation and service. Elections for the other vacancies will begin soon.
4.HRAG meeting date change - The next HRAG meeting which was scheduled for May 2nd, has been moved to May 10th due to the HR Communication Meetings that will be going on & a conference that Barbara will be attending.
Old Business
1.Item from September 2002 - Was it ever finalized to give employees with 15 years of service an extra week of vacation for their anniversary year only; and have that benefit happen on every 5 year mark, i.e. 20, 25? Barbara stated that this was not approved.
2.SOS Awards Banquet - Staff mentioned moving the recognition dinner back a week when students are not here. They stated that when students are here, Whisler staff & Security and Safety are not able to make it, unless they take time off. Barbara asked for feedback from HRAG. The question was asked, why some people don't have an interest in attending? One member suggested conducting a survey to get overall feedback of what people would like and don't like about the banquet. Other members of the group suggested moving the banquet to the Spring - 1st Saturday of Spring break; while others appeared interested in the idea of working as a committee in support of the banquet. Barbara stated that she would seek approval for HRAG to plan the next banquet & to move the banquet to the Spring, 2008. She stated that if she could get the support then she expected cooperation & participation from the group. HRAG seemed to support of the idea.
