New Items

1.Service Award Banquet - The support staff service award banquet will be held on January 14, 2006.  The theme is "People and Places Throughout Time" a look back on 35 years of award banquets.

Updates

1.Smoking in Garage/University Vehicles - The issue of smoking was  brought to the Director of the Physical Plant for his review.  In the interim, the University adopted a revised smoking policy based on local regulations that prohibits smoking in all buildings (including garages) and in university vehicles.  Smoking within 20 to 30 feet of any entrance or exit of a building is also prohibited.  The policy suggests that people who see potential violations of the policy should respectfully bring the situation to the person's attention to resolve the situation in a mature manner.

2.Employee Allegedly Disciplined to Bringing Issues to HRAG - The concern was expressed to the Director of the Physical Plant.  The situation has been resolved.  Clearly, any person can bring an idea or issue to HRAG without worrying about a negative consequence.

3.Disability Access to Physical Plant - HRAG as an entity expressed the belief that if there is just one person needing handicapped access to the Physical Plant office then one should be provided.  A handicapped space has been made available at the Physical Plant for employee use.

4.Tuition Cash Assistance Elsewhere Benefit - The two issues are: 1) will the benefit ever be increased or will it remain at $1,500 forever, and 2) is it a possibility to also provide this benefit to dependents who attend accredited two-year colleges.  The tuition cash assistance elsewhere benefit is scheduled to be discussed at the next Board of Trustees meeting.

5.Representative List - Jim A. will bring a list of employees by area for each representative to the next meeting in February.
