Denison Operating Working Staff
DOWS exists to develop an atmosphere of social and/or educational harmony among all university employees. Membership is open to all Supportive Operating Staff. DOWS is well-known throughout the Denison community for its annual charity auction, which raises money for local families in need. Last year DOWS raised more than $8,000.
We are always looking for assistance to organize the events sponsored by DOWS throughout the year. Please contact any officer listed below for more information, to share your ideas, or find out how you can help.

DOWS Holiday Auction 2009
The DOWS auction is quickly approaching! We hope you'll be able to attend. This year's auction will be held on Thursday, November 19 at noon in the Burton Morgan Lecture Hall. Well-known auctioneer Craig Connelly will again provide his talents. In addition to the rousing and exciting live auction, we will again hold a silent auction, also in the Burton Morgan Lecture Hall. Join us Wednesday, November 18 and bid on your favorite items. The silent auction is a fun way to gear up for Thursday's live auction, and we'll have amazing donated items at each event. We'll also have a raffle for some big ticket items... check back here at the website or keep an eye out for details on how to buy a raffle ticket and what we'll be raffling off!
Last year we raised over $8,800 and helped 35 families in Licking County, including some from our very own Denison community. DOWS is committed to making the 2009 holiday season brighter for as many local families as we can. And the need is even greater this year, so every donation (great and small), every bid, and every helping hand is vital.
Interested in helping out? There are so many ways DOWS members and others in the Denison community can assist us with making our auction a success, even in this tough economic climate. DOWS members, and their departments and offices, can offer up fun items for donation--themed baskets, gift cards, handmade items, even meals! If you are a member of the local business community, or have family or friends who own business in Licking County and beyond, donating services or special items from a store or business is a great way to help out the community--and it is great advertising!
Fee free to contact any of the DOWS officers if you'd like to help out. We are always in need of elves to help display and distribute items during the auction. And thank you in advance!
