NEW BUSINESS:
* Part-time employee recognition at Banquet. There was a concern that part-time employees were not recognized or given an opportunity to select an award like full-time staff and be invited. Barbara stated that part-time employees are given the same options as full-time employees. There is no difference.
* Aerobic Class. A question was brought up about having a class after work as opposed to during the day because people have to go back to work. Also, some concerns were raised about the fees on classes being offer. A concern was raised about the charges for classes as oppose to no fees at the inception of the program, and wondered why things cost now. Barbara stated that in the beginning the Coordinator (Stephanie Agosta) was probably able to conduct more of the classes and therefore they were free. However, now we’re offering some courses that must be taught by other instructors and these include a fee. Barbara added that Stephanie is just doing more now. She also reminded them that Stephanie conducts a lot of fitness assessments. When Barbara asked the question of Stephanie, the response was that she is not certified in all the activities/programs now being offered; therefore she’s not able to facilitate them. Furthermore, Stephanie mentioned that when she does teach a class there is no charge to the employees and this fall happens to be the one semester that she didn’t teach any classes.
Barbara mentioned to the group that there are some other classes after work like yoga with Dick Kinsley who teaches Tai Chi on Tuesday at 7 p.m.; Dick’s class is free. She stated that the Department of Athletics also offers an evening class on Monday & Wednesday from 4:45-5:45 p.m. Barbara found out that although the class is facilitated by a student, it is open to all students, faculty & staff. During this part of the semester the class currently has no instructor. Barbara stated that Visyana Yoga is also after work from 4:45-6:00; however, this class is not.
* Webtime Entry. The question was raised about when Academic Secretaries would be migrated into webtime entry, and whether there would be any formal training. Barbara stated that a notification would be sent out by Jim Ables informing individuals about the upcoming transition for their particular area, and that once employees got into DU Self Service and had questions Ginny Hobbs and Erin Lennon would be available for assistance as needed.
The next HRAG meeting will be March 5, 2008 in Burton Morgan Room 317.
