The HRAG would like to give a “SPECIAL THANKS” to the entire Grounds and Building Services Department for the tremendous job they have done in keeping the roadways and grounds clear of snow and ice over the last couple months. We really do appreciate you for all your hard work.
NEW BUSINESS:
o Official Pay Stub for Verification Purposes. The question was asked if it would be feasible for an employees to have an official pay stub for verification purposes to secure any type of a loan. A HRAG member stated that with the "going green effort", HR is trying to eliminate as much paper as possible. Barbara agreed. Barbara stated that if a lender wanted verification, they should contact the HR/Payroll office and payroll would process the verification. Also, if there was a special need for the employee to have documentation to take to the lender, an employee could ask payroll if they could accommodate the request. HR is looking into whether ITS can place the Denison University name on the on-line screen for more of an official look.
o Wellness Advisory Group. Barbara asked HRAG they felt SOS would benefit from a Wellness Advisory Group who would suggest and make recommendations to Stephanie Agosta, Wellness Coordinator. Barbara also asked if anyone from HRAG would want to participate on this advisory group or if they knew of an employee who would like to serve on the group. Some members of HRAG said that they would like to recommend some people. The group said that it sounds good. Barbara stated that Stephanie would lead the group. When Barbara asked Stephanie what she thought of the idea Stephanie said she envisions the group as being the pulse of the organization on wellness issues and would help to promote wellness in their area by being a contact person for new programs.
HR UPDATES:
o Health Plan 2009 - RFP. Barbara told the group that the University is looking to bid out our health and dental plans and review different options for employees like a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and a voluntary Vision program. The question was asked if we would keep the employee informed and Barbara said the HR would communicate progress and hold meetings, if necessary to discuss further changes.
o Applicant Tracking. Barbara reminded the group that HR was in the process of implementing the People Admin Applicant Tracking System. She shared with the group that once the system is fully operational that all applicants must apply on-line for any position available at the University. Barbara stated that computer have already been set-up in HR to accommodate applicants who walk-in to apply.
o Direct Deposit. Barbara stated that that HR has assessed the number of employees currently using direct deposit versus employees who do not. She stated that effective May 1, 2008 employees who are not using direct deposit will be required to change to direct deposit. Notices will be sent to employees who are affected by this requirement. Presently, only about 5% of employees are receiving a check.
The next HRAG meeting will be April 2, 2008 in Burton Morgan Room 317.
