We added same sex domestic partner, grand child and legal guardian to the funeral leave policy - The question: Why is opposite sex domestic partner not added to this policy? Some members stated that opposite sex domestic partner is not added because it is not consistent with policy. Jim Ables concurred.

HRAG Nominations
-
Lynn McIlyar-Chair stated that following staff expressed interest: Jill Uland, Bonnie Wright-Trees, Patricia Ruess, Tom Reese and Sharon Zink. Sharon OReilly stated that Chris Hardy was interested in representing Residence Halls; Belinda Carr nominated Holly Ann Breymaier as a potential PT representative. Barbara received an email from Deborah Bennett volunteering to replace Sally Scheiderer who represented the Academic Offices and Slayter. Barbara stated that she would follow up with them.
With some discussion about the vacancies, the group thought that the Grounds and Trades groups could be better served by one person, which has traditionally been represented by two people. Barbara was asked to see if the Department Head and Manager of Physical Plant had any issues with making this change.
SOS Banquet Update/Survey
-
Barbara brought back to the groups the previous idea to potentially move the banquet to the spring. While the idea sounded great, no one realized the schedule implications or the availability of individuals time, such as President Knobels, neither Sodexhos nor other department schedules such as Physical Plant that would be impacted by this spring fling. Barbara stated that many staff members would be vacationing during that time of the year. Although, no commitment to set a date is on the horizon, Barbara stated that she would like to conduct a survey to find out staff interest and suggestions.
HR Mission/Vision
-
Jim shared with HRAG the HR Mission and Vision. He stated that he has shared it with several groups across campus and has gotten feedback from some of them. Jim asked the group if they had any comments or feedback to share. No comments were brought to his attention.
HRAG has been responsible for assisting with updating the SOS Handbook this year. Barbara thanked the HRAG for the contribution and participation to the group.
The next HRAG meeting will be September 5, 2007 in Burton Morgan Room 317.
