OLD BUSINESS:
Minutes from May/April meetings – unpublished
Barbara shared with the committee a copy of the unpublished minutes from the April and May meeting. The group reviewed and approved the minutes for publication.
From the May meeting, Barbara re-addressed one concern regarding:
Sick Leave Policy. Could the policy concerning family sick leave be reviewed? An employee responsible for the care of a handicapped cousin who resides with her would like to be able to use family sick time. Barbara stated that HR would review it but needed additional information concerning the employee’s responsibility of care.
Barbara stated that the current family illness policy defines which immediate family members are covered and that other dependents living in the employee’s household, as defined by the IRS, could be as well. Barbara expressed that the employee should further discuss this topic directly with the Office of Human Resources.
Leave Donation Policy.
o Barbara informed HRAG members that the list of possible leave donation options that were submitted last year have been reviewed. Out of the list, Barbara stated that a few items have been approved
The changes include:
o Donors have to maintain a minimum of 10 days of sick/vacation time in order to donate any leave;
o Donors can donate up to three (3) days at a time (as long as they don’t go below the minimum level);
o An employee must be employed for at least three (3) months to make a request for leave donation.
NEW BUSINESS:
DOWS.
Barbara informed the group that she and Jim met with a few reps from DOWS to discuss a couple initiatives the group has in mind to provide more exposure to the different work groups on campus. A couple options that DOWS is looking at include a mentoring program and a monthly brown bag luncheon to discuss various topics.
Training Opportunities.
Barbara distributed handouts of the current listing of opportunities for campus training for all staff. Barbara asked and encouraged participation from the group and asked them to post the listing in a common area for others. Training opportunities are also communicated on the Human Resources web page.
The next HRAG meeting is scheduled for October 7, 2009 in Burton Morgan, Room 317.
