Provost Anderson confirmed that the last IRAB meeting of the semester will be on December 12, 2000.

Scottie Cochrane reported on continuing work in the Learning Resources Center, to merge LRC circulation functions into the Main Circulation Desk and to move Audio-Visual Equipment Services to Computing Services. She also noted the need to promote caution in recording students' viewing of assigned video materials. While attendance may be taken in classes that view videos, it is not appropriate for Library staff to report which students are viewing videotapes individually, even if they are assigned for a course.

Scott Siddall described an exciting faculty-led project to create an online journal of scholarly materials related to Iran, written and displayed as web pages in Persian. The Board discussed how this project might be supported by the University within the context of a "Denison University Digital Press." Discussions settled on the need for such an undertaking to provide support for digital, scholarly journals as part of the overall faculty development program. Guidelines would be needed to suggest what criteria are used for accepting a journal series, how must each journal be managed (i.e. an editorial board, etc). The Denison Digital Press would need a series editor to manage the effort. The ideas from this discussion will be followed up as resources allow; the Persian online journal continues to develop.
