Each year the College will undertake a review of at least two academic departments or programs. The review process will include: (1) a self-study, (2) a review by an external committee and (3) a response by the department or program. These periodic reviews of academic programs, coordinated by the Associate Provost (Kim Coplin), are understood to be part of the Academic Affairs Council's responsibility to "evaluate...the broad educational programs, goals, and accomplishments of the University." (University Governance Document, March 11, 1991, Article III, Section A, 1-b, page 11). The focus for these reviews will be on the program's proper role in the College and how well it is fulfilling that role. The periodic review will include substantial and broadly-based student input in all its phases, including the possibility of input on the evaluation process itself.
