Soprano Renée Fleming captivates Denison University audience

Renée Fleming at DenisonDenison University’s Vail Series continued its 30-year history of bringing the world’s premier performers to campus with a concert by renowned American soprano Renée Fleming on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Swasey Chapel.

After a stunning performance that featured a wide range of works by Handel, Dutilleux, Kander, Strauss, Puccini and Zandonai, the packed audience brought Ms. Fleming back for five brilliant encores, which included George and Ira Gershwin’s “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess, Lerner and Loewe’s “I Could Have Danced all Night” from My Fair Lady (with audience participation) and Strauss’s “Morgen.”

Ms. Fleming was accompanied by masterful pianist Hartmut Höll.
