While Denison University has just said farewell to its class of 2010, the Office of Admissions has been working hard to bring in the class of 2014. Perry Robinson, vice president and director of Admissions recently released highlights from the incoming class.

“In many respects, the Class of 2014 appears to have great potential.” Says Robinson. “It is already the most diverse in the college’s history.”

While these are the best statistics available, Robinson cautions that “the numbers are fluid.” Incoming freshmen may have situations that will alter before they join Denison in the fall.

Highlights of the Class of 2014

National Merit Scholarship finalists: 12
Ranking in top 10 percent of secondary school class: 49 percent
Ranking in top 20 percent of secondary school class: 77 percent
Average GPA: 3.5
Average SAT composite: 1282
Average ACT composite: 28
Multicultural students: 30 percent
First Generation students: 92
Graduated with academic honors: 505

Denison University looks forward to officially welcoming the class of 2014 during June and August orientations and when the residence halls open on August 26.
