"Mind your Brain" by Christopher Greathouse
Christopher Greathouse, a senior studio art and English with a writing concentration double major at Denison University, won the “People’s Choice” award from the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO) at its fourth annual Awards for Excellence in the Visual Arts reception at Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday, April 13. The reception honored six senior finalists from independent colleges throughout Ohio.
The People’s Choice Award was chosen by a public vote, taken online. Greathouse’s work consisted of images created from wood and paper and help in relation to each other by fishing lines or other means of support.
Greathouse commented on his work. “My recent work centers around the poetics of space exploration, in the ways objects and images interact in space and time. How do the relationships between objects change over time and through space? How do objects develop poetic resonance? These are just a few of the questions I am interested in through exploration and in bending perception.”
The AICUO was organized in 1969 to represent the interests of its members to Ohio's lawmakers, regulators and citizens. It seeks to strengthen student financial aid programs and bring about a greater understanding of the impact and contributions of Ohio independent colleges and universities.
