Talks about art and politics at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Two events at Denison University will highlight the intersection between art and politics. “The Artist as Political Subject,” a lecture by artist Cesar Portilla, will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Knapp Performance Lab (300 Ridge Road). The second event, an exhibition opening of “Art and Politics - The Spark that Sets the Prairie on Fire,” will take place at 7 p.m. followed by an artist's talk at 7:30 p.m.. on Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Mulberry House Gallery (202 North Mulberry Street). “Art and Politics - The Spark that Sets the Prairie on Fire” approaches the relationship between art and politics. The project is directed by Gabriela Rivadeneira. Participating artists include Eric Baudelaire, Manon de Boer, Cildo Meireles, Juan Pablo Ordóñez, Pan con cola Producciones, and Société Réaliste.
