GRANVILLE — Jack Balas, painter, photographer and Denison’s current artist-in-residence, will present an artist talk at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, in room 305 of the Bryant Arts Center (210 West College Street). Balas’ talk, sponsored by Denison’s Queer Studies Program and Studio Art Program, is free and open to the public.

Featured in a recent edition of Out Magazine and a recipient of the 1995 Fellowship in Painting from the National Endowment for the Arts, Balas is an internationally renowned artist working in painting and photography. Several of his pieces are featured in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum of Art (New York), the Tucson Museum of Art and the Kent and Vicki Logan Collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Two of his most recent solo exhibitions include “We’ll Be Seeing You” in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, Colo., and “Jack Balas: An American Male,” in the Ego Gallery of Barcelona, Spain.

As the artist-in-residence at Denison, Balas is working with students and creating a series of his own etchings in the Bryant Arts Center printmaking studios.
