Author David Shields to read from his work

GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison University’s Beck Lecture Series presents award-winning writer David Shields at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, in the Board Room of Barney-Davis Hall (200 West Loop). Shields is the author of 14 books, including “How Literature Saved my Life,” “The Thing About Life Is That One Day You’ll Be Dead,” and “Reality Hunger: A Manifesto:” a book that challenges our most basic assumptions about originality, authenticity and creativity.
 
His other books include “Black Planet: Facing Race During an NBA Season,” a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; “Remote: Reflections on Life in the Shadow of Celebrity,” a winner of the PEN/Revson Award; and “Dead Languages: A Novel,” winner of the PEN Syndicated Fiction Award.
