GRANVILLE—The second annual Big Red Weekend for the Denison University family—including parents, alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the college—is set for Oct. 2-4.

“We expect that there could be 750 to 1,000 parents of current students and Denison alumni visiting campus during Big Red Weekend,” says Steve Crawford, director of Denison’s Alumni Relations.

This event combines the formerly separate weekends for alumni and parent visits to create three days of entertaining and informative programming.

An exhibit will be open to the public during Big Red Weekend:

  • Photography, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day in Slayter Hall (200 Ridge Road)

There also will be two concerts open to the public, both at 8 p.m. in Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive):

  • Student a capella concert, Friday, Oct. 2
  • Department of Music Showcase, Saturday, Oct. 3

Not to be missed by sports enthusiasts is the Big Red football game, this year under the lights of Deeds Field-Piper Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. This pivotal Week 4 match-up will pit the Denison Big Red of the North Coast Athletic Conference against Case Western Reserve of the University Athletic Association.

Other athletic contests scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 3, include women’s soccer versus Hiram at 1 p.m. at Barclay-Thomsen Field and women’s field hockey against Washington and Jefferson at 1 p.m. at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
