Bowl-a-thon invites community to make ceramic bowls for charity

GRANVILLE, Ohio—This year’s Denison Bowl-A-Thon will take place from 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, to 1 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Bryant Arts Center (210 West College Street). The event is free an open to the public. For more information about the 2012 Bowl-A-Thon, contact Dyan Couden at 740-587-6596 or visit www.denison.edu.

Students, faculty, staff and community youth and adults are encouraged to come and create ceramic bowls. Bowls can be made using various ceramic techniques including a pottery wheel and free form modeling. Art students will be available to help participants in the process.

Later this fall, the bowls will be glazed and fired in kilns, then filled with soup and sold to benefit the Licking County Food Pantry.

The Bowl-A-Thon is organized and sponsored by the Denison University Art Collective and the Department of Studio Art. The Art Collective is a campus organization created to bring awareness of the arts to the community and to provide individuals with the opportunity to express themselves creatively in artistic settings.
