Denison Hosts Alumni, Family and Friends on Big Red Weekend

Denison University will welcome many members of its extended family during Big Red Weekend, held from Friday, Oct. 1, to Sunday, Oct. 3. The weekend is considered a “welcome home” for alumni, family and friends. Many events are open to the public and are free unless noted:
Friday, Oct. 1, events:
• Departments of Studio Art and Art History Alumni Exhibition: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bryant Arts Center (210 West College Street).
• Denison Theatre premiere of “Dead Man’s Cell Phone”: 8 p.m. at the Ace Morgan Theatre (211 West College Street). Tickets are $8 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens, and $4 for non-Denison students. All performances are open to the public. Reservations may be made at the Theatre Box Office: 740-587-6527.
• Student A Cappella Concert: 8 p.m. in Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). A cappella groups, the Denison Hilltoppers, Ladies’ Night Out, and DU-Wop, perform.
Saturday, Oct. 2, events:
• Departments of Studio Art and Art History Alumni Exhibition: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bryant Arts Center (210 West College Street).
• Photography exhibit of the experiences of Denison’s Off-Campus Study Program students: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Slayter Hall, second floor (200 Ridge Road).
• Field Hockey vs. Kenyon: 10 a.m. at Piper Stadium (100 Livingston Drive).
• Denison Museum Family Day: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Denison Museum (240 West Broadway). A fun-filled afternoon of exhibition tours, a scavenger hunt, story time, and hands-on activities. All events will be focused upon the current exhibitions from the Denison collection: “Picasso at Denison,” “Theophile Steinlen,” and “From Paris to New York.” Refreshments will be served and all ages are welcome.
• Football vs. the College of Wooster: 1 p.m. at Piper Stadium (100 Livingston Drive). Induction of the newest members of the Varsity D Association Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducted at halftime. General admission - $4; Ages 12 through high school - $2; Visiting college students, faculty and staff with college ID - $2; under age 12 and senior citizens - free; Denison students, faculty and staff with college ID - free.
• Men’s Soccer vs. Wabash: 2:30 p.m. at Barclay-Thomsen Field (300 Ebaugh Drive). The dedication of the John Hunting ’54 soccer facility will take place at halftime.
• Department of Music Student Showcase: 7 - 9 p.m. at Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). From classical to bluegrass to Broadway, featuring a wide variety of student ensembles.
• Denison Theatre presents “Dead Man’s Cell Phone”: 8 p.m. at the Ace Morgan Theatre (211 West College Street). Tickets are $8 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens, and $4 for non-Denison students. All performances are open to the public. Sunday, Oct. 3, events:
